You should try DATEK for your orders. It is especially good for shorting. They always seem to have shares available, since they are a major clearinghouse for the NASDAQ. Check out their website (www.datek.com) under the info section. Only $9.99 per trade, FAST executions, and of course, you can short between the spread, which is great for downticks. Of all of the shorts I have done, there is only once when they didn't have any shares available.
