I think the main reason is the size of the short position.

Over 1/3 of the float is being shorted. It will take major news to break the trend, at least that's what I would expect. Until someone makes an offer to buy them or they find a way to present some favorable news, the shorts will likely keep pounding this one, as it's been very good to them thus far. I think this will change at some point this year. Have no idea when or why?

Looks like there's more to their product line than the stock price is suggesting. Also, even though they have all that cash on hand, they also have some debt, so (I believe) cash net the debt is closer to $0.75/share and it may be a little lower than that......

It's usually wise to respect short positions of this size. My concern is that there's something the shorts know about the company that management hasn't discussed but that's FUD and nothing to trade on (to say the least).
