The liberals consistently asserted, in their questions, the notion that ALL people are effectively entering into commerce by virtue of their very existence: Everyone sooner or later will require health care

By that argument a broccoli mandate would be supported to even a greater extent. All people use food. While its not true that all people use health care services. A few never have such services. A much larger number never get healthcare that they couldn't personally afford. Its hardly unheard of for someone to go their entire life without health insurance, charity health care or uncompensated emergency health care.

And of course even if you are eventually going to enter a market, you aren't in it yet. Until you actually buy or sell or barter the good or service you aren't engaging in any commerce in that good or service.
