GerPol: I agree that Corporate Welfare is detrimental to GNP, progress and economic expansion in general. Unfortunately, the government of the day (and the Liberals are not alone) has seen fit to hand out money without scrutiny (currently over a dozen RCMP investigations). Not only does this encourage unnecessary Corporate Welfare, but outright fraud.

Most of what ails mankind, whether it is here or in the floundering Soviet Union or the Communist regime of China, can be attributed to basic human weaknesses, one of which is if you pass out a tray of cake, almost everyone will help their self. And if the tray is endless, the line-ups just get longer.

What I propose is that government take the initiative to wean corporations and individuals off the tittie. It isn't going to be easy, and it will involve considerable whining and belly-aching, but it is absolutely necessary. Corporate and individual welfare is never appreciated once it becomes ingrained into the psyche - it becomes EXPECTED.

And that is another human weakness. We expect good things to last forever.

The Government of the Day has decided that it needs to promote itself, to pump all kinds of tax dollars into useless programs, to make sure that Canadians become dependent. That is a crime against independence.
