AMD delays Dresden plant expansion by 'several quarters' due to financial woes July 27, 2007: 09:57 AM EST DRESDEN, Germany, Jul. 27, 2007 (Thomson Financial delivered by Newstex) -- Microprocessor maker Advanced Micro Devices Inc has delayed expansion of its facility in Dresden by 'several quarters' after the company reported a 600 mln usd net loss last week. 'Due to the weak results in the first two quarters we had to revise our financial position and make adjustments,' the facility's director Hans Deppe said. No job cuts are planned, he added. [ Shouldn't he have said "allowed" instead of "planned" ?? ] The plan to switch the site's production to 300mm wafers from 200mm needs to be postponed from 2008 until 2009, Deppe said.
