People will do that. Sometime you might want to go look for Jim Cramer's article on Intel, the day the judge's decision breaking their x86 monopoly came down (it's one of his very best). Intel halted right at 110 for the news of the decision, and still more than half of the owners of 110 calls (and nearly ALL of the 105 call holders) expiring that weekend, elected to exercise. Intel opened in the 80s the next Monday, and Cramer, who was short the calls (among many other positions) made a mint.
