.I have had -0- wheat. 1% (of my diet) sugar, and -0- corn.
That's great, Neeka! I see the big diet advantage of cutting those three to zero is that it makes food choices a lot easier if you are going "low starch, no sweets," as we are.
Instead of constantly having to figure what kind of food to eat, you simply stay away from those three and eat in moderation of everything else. This leaves you with "meat, beans, greens, and oatmeal."
Since I am not a big salad lover, I get carrots and celery in my stews, along with beans and barley. I buy a three-pac of ground turkey at Costco and pull a pac out of the freezer when I make up my weekly batch of Chili. I am buying a boned leg of lamb at Costco and cutting in to three pieces, [using one and freezing two] to have in my weekly lamb stew. Two pieces of salt pork, boiled down to shreds, work for my weekly Split Pea stew. I also dice up a can of spam in it, making it "Island Style."
I have seven plastic bowls with covers that I put the "dry mix" for my oatmeal in once a week. I switch off with a 3-egg omelet a couple of times a week.
My splenda/strawberry/banana/yogurt smoothies, Splenda sweet tea and nuts finish off my diet.
My meals are planned on the basis of what I like, rather than "what's good for me." As long as I stay away from "the three destroyers of the body, wheat, corn and sugar," I am bound to lose weight and I enjoy doing so. |
