They don't even answer your e-mails if you are asking them to open a new account with them...>> As a user of three services, I can tell you that Datek has the best record of answering my e-mail inquiries regarding wiring funds out, etc. Customers must include account user name, account number or else no answer, i was told. What I don't like about them is that when you request funds, you may not get it if your equity in your portfolio decreases in value so as to bring you down to negative cash available, before it wires money out, they would not send the money. Since it looks like that you were not a customer when you contacted them, you may have been slighted for that reason! But you do not need to e-mail them in order to sign up. Go to their site, and find the the applications on line and do it! That was what I did to get enrolled. Good luck.
