After listening to management answer the ML analyst's questions about market share, my response is the same as the Lehman analyst: "Cymer maintained more market share in 1999 than we had expected, and the company's plans to introduce a series of new products augur well for continued market share leadership in 2000."

In Korea and Taiwan market share is above 94% Only in Japan is it in the eighties at 84%. CYMI feels pretty confident that the cost efficiency aspect of their lasers will benefit the bottom line more favorably than any initial purchase savings a company might gain from using a cheaper laser. In other words, if Japan's semiconductor industry wants to compete with the world and with the fast growing Korean and Taiwanese foundries and fabs, they will have to temper their desire to buy from Komatsu. So my read on the conference call vis-a-vis market share is that it will remain in the nineties except in Japan which will remain in the eighties. I say not bad.
