Senate Majority : There is reportedly an email from the Evans-Novak Political Report making the rounds which claims that Republican Senator James Jeffords of Vermont will announce tomorrow that he is switching parties. If he does switch, the move will give Democrats a 51-49 majority in the Senate. This is unlikely to affect the prospects for the tax bill, which has some Democratic support, but it would clearly shift the balance of power in the Senate going forward, most notably by giving control of committee chairmanships to the Democrats.
