Rosie the Bird Lady, I think I know what happened.

True story:

I've been putting off the chore of repairing a section of my roof eve for sometime now.
Every Spring, for the past 3 years I put it on my list of things to fix.
However, every year a pair of Starlings make a nest in that opening that overhangs my house.
I can't close it up because they would lose the home they worked so hard to build. I figure, what's the rush anyhow...
They aren't harming anything.
I'll get to it next year.

Here is where it ties in with your bird story...

After we got home today from our mini vacation in the mountains, my wife asked my 4 year old to put a small suitcase up in the attic.
My son climbed back down from the pulldown staircase and explained that he saw a bird in the attic.
We thought that it was just his imagination.

When my wife went up there, she saw two baby starlings, attempting to learn to fly. The mother was watching closely from the corner of the attic.
I assume it was a good safe spot to learn to fly before the initial plunge from my roof eve.

The funny thing is that we stopped hearing the baby birds chirping for a week or so. We thought they didn't make it...

Anyhow, maybe yours were tranported to my attic...

I'll name one of them "Rosie".

Perhaps I'll fix the roof eve this fall, when they are gone...

...gotta get back to the boiling kettle of clams and shrimp...
Happy 4th everyone!
