I have used AOL for years, it's great.
I'd recommend it to anyone who is new to the online world.
In fact its the ONLY online experience I would recommend to the non-tech friend or family member.
I still use it as my main email address.
Five e-mail addresses for $10 a month, plus unlimited access for $10 more. Suits my family of five just fine!

IMHO one problem we "sophisticated" online investors have, especially here on Silicon investor, is that we know TOO much. We are very comfortable with technology, we enjoy exploring new tech capabilities, we can see the next great thing that's coming. We are in short "early adopters".

However the really big money is made when the mass market balloons behind the early adopters. This is happening now on AOL and NOWHERE else. Sure we're moving on. We have a "community" here on the net. But don't make the mistake of thinking your experience is universal.
Eight million members, just a quirk?!
