Obewon, I never said profitability in 2000, I said "break-even".
With the death of the domestic flat panel display manufacturing in the US, the military is in a world of hurt looking for a domestic replacement. With MVIS putting a relatively low cost alternative in play, I don't see how the services can't bite. In deed they already have. Looking at the alternatives of setting up a domestic FPD industry (HUGE INVESTMENT IN OLD TECHNOLOGY), or supporting MVIS, and their superior product I think the military will pay the bills in the short the short term (3 years). Small profit in 2 years.
I realize that costs will ramp up rapidly as consumer products come on line, but I expect that Microvision will farm the manufacturing out to some of the excess capacity in the chip business. MEMs and VRD need the sort of facilities that currently make microprocessors and memory.
I, for one, do not expect MVIS to really take off until consumer products are introduced. Four years minimum. A lot of investors will lose patience between now and then. I don't need the $ in this time horizon, and can afford to wait.
