TIBCO Software Executive Delivers Opening Keynote at KoreanE-Commerce Conference
TIBCO Executive Vice President Raj Mashruwala Joins Korean President
Kim Dae-Jung in Talks on the Future of E-Commerce in Korea
SEOUL, South Korea, Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Raj Mashruwala, Executive Vice President and head of Asia Pacific operations for TIBCO Software Inc. (Nasdaq: TIBX), a leading provider of real-time infrastructure software for e-business, delivered the opening keynote address today at the International Conference On E-Commerce. Following Mr. Mashruwala's opening address, the conference attendees listened to Korean President Kim Dae-Jung deliver a speech entitled: "Vision of eKorea." Shin Kook-Hwan, Minister, Korea Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy also spoke on "e-Asia Hub and the New Order of International Trade."
Mr. Mashruwala discussed the trends shaping e-commerce in the 21st century and strategies that companies, especially those in Korea, need to implement to become successful e-businesses.
"Korea is emerging as one of the world's leading high-technology superpowers in today's Internet revolution," said Mr. Mashruwala. "The Korean government's planned investment in e-commerce infrastructure will enable Korean companies to take advantage of the Internet and become even more successful." Last Wednesday, the Korean government released a budget report for 2001 in which it said it would sharply increase next year's budget for e-commerce infrastructure. In the report, the Planning and Budget Ministry said the administration would particularly target funding for infrastructure improvements in the booming business-to-business (B2B) sector.
Other TIBCO executives presenting at the conference include: Gene Kuo, Vice President of Asia Pacific for TIBCO and JeongBeom Kim, General Manager and Managing Director for TIBCO's Korean operations. Mr. Kuo will discuss how Korean companies can rapidly develop and deploy e-marketplaces. Mr. Kim will discuss e-business strategies and solutions.
TIBCO Announces Korean Initiatives
TIBCO is expanding its office in Seoul to incorporate a new training center to meet the growing demand from customers for TIBCO's e-business products and services. Key Korean customers include such industry-leading companies as Samsung, Hyundai, LG Electronics and TriGem.
TIBCO also plans to show its support for the Korean high-technology industry by donating software to leading educational institutions for use in developing e-commerce programs, and establishing a scholarship for students specializing in information technology (IT). TIBCO will also supply leading universities in Korea with TIBCO CEO Vivek Ranadive's book, "The Power of Now." A best-selling book, it is required reading in IT programs at several American universities and describes how companies can use real-time information to become more competitive. |
