We stayed in a private home in Salzburg in the late 80s. The family spoke only German. They were dairy farmers and just rented rooms to wandering tourists.
Because we were with them three days, we tried for some communication. No sooner had we managed to say, "Dallas", then their faces lit up. DALLAS! Where were our cowboy hats?? Did we own oil wells? We must be RICH!!!
We ran into this many times when we got outside of the big cities in Europe. They ALL knew Dallas, but only as Southfork and the Ewings. Their first association was MONEY. But there was also a mystique that we never really understood. They were totally enamored of the show, even years after it went dark.

The office show shots were filmed at my husband's building in downtown Dallas. One day he came home and said he had exchanged greetings with a shirtless Bobby Ewing.
Very exciting.
