Well, I don't know who has more credibility--an Apple spokesman or the Motorola one Eric referenced. Certainly Apple wants people to keep buying G3s to smooth out this quarter. I know there are quite a few waiting until the first G4 comes out for their next desktop, especially if it's out by October. I even decided to make due with a G3 cpu upgrade in order to put off a box purchase until 2000 to get a cheap G4. We'll see. If it will be shipping from MOT by mid-year, we'll certainly know about it soon.

Apple really did a great thing by getting the weight of the PowerBook down. I think that's the biggest selling point for people I know who were close to buying one of the current PBs but were waiting to see the new specs first. Since I haven't seen any price cuts on the old line, I think you'd have to be crazy to not want the new ones instead. 25% lighter is significant. Keeping SCSI was cool too.
