You probably have a higher yield on cost. For AMNF, based on the $0.04/share dividend my yield on cost is 7.88% !

That's pretty nice for a micro-cap w/ a lot of future growth potential.

---------------------------------------------------------------

I saw I got filled for a small sale of KMI today at $29.47/share. I have a yield on cost of 9.9%. I believe part of that dividend is ROC (Return Of Capital) which would reduce my cost basis. I see my largest Buy was in 12/2018 so I need to check w/ Schwab if my current cost of $12.01 reflects the ROC deduction. It appears so as the stock was $15/share around that time.

So when you sell, you book a long term capital gain and pay your tax accordingly.

Conclusion: Best to hold given the low cost basis and favorable treatment to the dividend (ie ROC). It like a MLP w/o the difficult K1 reports.

Still will be peeling off shares at/above $30 and perhaps we will get a shot at $40/share.

Been selling WMB too but their divided yield now only 3% and they also do an ROC but it varies from year to year.
