OTTAWA, Nov 27 (Reuters) - Canadian companies have signed
12 deals worth C$2.3 billion with Chinese partners, Canadian
Trade Minister Sergio Marchi said on Thursday.

Canadian companies will be investing in Chinese
manufacturing, telecommunications infrastructure, banking,
housing, environmental technologies and transportation.

The deals include C$1.42 billion in memomrandums of
understanding or letters of intent, C$670.9 million in
contracts and C$168 million in joint ventures.
Alcan Aluminium Ltd signed a letter of intent worth
C$1.42 billion for a proposed smelter and power complex in
Hejin City, Shanxi Province, Marchi said.
Bank of Nova Scotia received a licence approval to
open a branch in Chongquing.
Bombardier Inc signed a memorandum of
understanding to produce high-grade passenger railcars.
Inter-Citic Envirotec Inc signed a testing agreemen
with Beijing General Mining and Metallurgical Corp.

Newbridge Networks Corp signed an agreement with
the Guangdong Post and Telecommunications Authority to supply
C$43 million in data network equipment.
