I too feel the beneficiaries of the Compaq debacle will be the net stocks. I feel that the Online brokerages or OLB's as they are referred to will benefit the most. Think about it, if there is a lot of selling going on then there has to be plenty of trading. The trading in turn generates revenues for the OLB's. The other thing that could happen is investors shy away from more "mature" companies like CPQ,INTC,CSCO,LU,ORCL, and plow their money into the "growth" sector like internets: RNWK,AOL,EBAY, and the OLB's like AMTD,EGRP,SCH,NDB etc. We may open lower, but I have a strong feeling that buyers will step up to internets in the later part of trading, or we may just see internets tear towards the uptrend from the start. Internet is here to stay, and if you are looking for aggressive growth: you need to be in the internet sector. RNWK is poised for "growth" and that's what investors will be looking for; companies which can grow exponentially like AOL, and RNWK. Money should be coming there. I can see the frustration from investors who have bet on box makers like CPQ and DELL. DELL is unfortunately slowing down and bad news from CPQ doesn't help Dell. Compaq has been so disappointing to investors over the last year and a half. Box makers are dying a slow death.
