><>..Paul, so close yet so far...It would have been nice for you two
to have met...well maybe someday.!
Yes, you are right Paul..once is enough.! But the question is? Was what you went through as a infant a baptism? Did you know at the time what was being done?...Were you immersed as Jesus was?...and was it of your own volition?...
I too as an infant was "supposedly" baptized, however, when I realized the true signigicance of baptism many years later, I decided that I was never really baptized. So without further ado I was baptized, in the manner that our Lord was....Now of course our salvation is not dependent upon baptism, we know that from the thief on the cross....But who knows he may have been baptized, the Bible is silent on that...
Paul my friend it is a matter of following Jesus and letting Him be our example....when we decide as an adult to follow Him we realize that when we are baptized we go "down" (immersed) with Him in the crucifixion, and we rise (come up from the water) with Him a new creature....
This is a decision that only you can make, but for me it was difficult to avoid, when I realized what exactly I would be doing if I were baptized as a adult...Jesus was 30 yrs old when He was baptized, even though as an infant, at 8 days old, He was circumcised and dedicated.
Well the final decision is your my good friend Have a blessed day Shalom.....><> |
