I discovered my identity had been stolen in CA in court, there on another matter, where I was accused of committing several crimes and having several warrants in force for my arrest from when I had hitchhiked out to CA as a young man, 25 years earlier! I had to do all the digging myself, but I was able to prove it wasn't me, but three other people. No credit cards were involved.

What a hassle! Protect your identity.
