James, so what do you make of the MCI deal?

BOSTON, March 24 (Reuter) - MCI Communications Corp <MCIC.O> officials said Monday they had teamed with Cisco Systems Inc <CSCO.O> to offer customers a premium grade of Internet service.
MCI Chief Engineering Officer Fred Briggs declined to give specific pricing information to analysts and reporters attending a workshop in Boston.
"1997 will be the year of quality of service for the Internet," MCI Director of Internet Engineering Rob Hagens said. The new software will allow MCI to offer multiple classes of service based on individual business customers' requirements.
The technology will be deployed as a software upgrade within MCI's installed base of Cisco 7500 routers.
Using the new software, MCI customers requiring premium grade service would gain priority access to network bandwidth.
MCI, headquartered in Washington, D.C., is the world's third largest carrier of international traffic, providing long distrance services from the United States to more than 280 countries.
San Jose, Calif.-based Cisco is a leader in networking for the Internet. 15:01 03-24-97
