All major U.S. stock markets will be closed on Monday September 1, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.
I read the SF Peninsula will celebrate Labor Day by trying to shut down most of El Camino Real with a massive protest march to let Trump know "we don't like him".
That means it will take twice as long to get anywhere... wasting electrons or gasoline stuck in traffic.

17 x 17k Labor Day Rally will pass through Atherton and Menlo Parkby Linda Hubbard on August 26, 2025

Building on the foundation of the 7 x 7k rally on June 14, the 17 x 17k Labor Day event on September 1st will stretch 17 miles along El Camino Real between Redwood City and Santa Clara, running through Atherton, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Los Altos, Mountain View and Sunnyvale. For more information or to sign up to participate.
There are three segments that go through Menlo Park and Atherton. From the south: Segment #10 Sand Hill Rd. to Middle Ave., the south side of the road (same side as the Stanford Shopping center). Segment # 9: Middle Avenue to Santa Cruz Ave. (same side of the road as Safeway).
Segment #8 changes to the McDonald’s side of the road, going from Santa Cruz Ave. to Spruce St. in Atherton.
According to organizers, they’re planning for 17,000 people to stretch in “an unbroken line of solidarity against authoritarianism and corruption, and to support labor, back environmental protections, promote human rights, and protect democracy and the rule of law.”
“Fundamentally, our protests have two primary purposes: to unite people in solidarity to show our elected officials that we believe in and will unite for democracy, and perhaps more importantly, to inspire and bring hope to people feeling isolated in difficult times,” says organizer, IdaRose Sylvester. “Our many protests this year continue to grow in size, and events have been peaceful, joyful, and inclusive.”
