To TC and all,
Well, I finally made the change and had 2 new computers built... one for the office and one for home... and, naturally, the problems begin! Just for background, the following is a summary of the hardware and OS:
*Antec Server Tower SX1240 with 400watt power supply
*Intel D850MVL Systemboard
*Intel P4 2.2Gig processor
*Intel Pentium Cooling Fan
*1Gig of rambus (800MHz)
*4 Seagate Cheetah 10000rpm SCSI harddrives (Raid 5 array)*Adaptec dual channel SCSI and RAID card (3200S)
*IBM IDE 61GB U/100 7200rpm removable harddrive
*Teac 1.44 Floppy Drive
*Creative Audigy Platinum soundboard (front panel connectors)
*Asus IDE 52X CD player
*TDK IDE 32-10-40X CDRW
*Leadtek WinFast Titanium 500 display adapter with 64MB
*Sony SCSI DDS4 SDT-11000-BM DAT tape backup
*Intel Ethernet Pro 10/100
*U.S Robotics Courier V. Everything external modem (on home unit and internal 3COM V.92 fax/modem for office unit)
*Logitech dual optical mouse
*Viewsonic VG191B 19" LCD
*2 additional 4" smartfans and 1 additional 5" smartfans for a total of 10 fans (it's amazingly quiet!)
OS is WIN 2000 Pro with all updates except for the IE update released last week.
Now for the current problems!!!
(1) installed a medical program from a new CD (updated and sent to me by the company) The program is written in visual basic and C++ that I used on my old PentiumII 266 box on WIN 98SE without problems. I was walked through transferring the old data, etc. to the new program by the company's tech support and everything seemed to go well and the program works OK. I then went to install another program for downloading and uploading medical dictation over the internet and during installation from the CD the following message "popped-up":

The tech advised to click ignore and the program installed OK.
Under the belief that the message came after the installation of the first program mentioned above and transfer of the old data files, I went to add/remove programs to try and remove the first program and try a reinstall. Although it was listed, when I "clicked-on" uninstall I got the same message as shown above. I went to other programs in the list and did not get the message. My computer "guru" came over and said he had never seen this message and suggested I contact the company that wrote the program, but they claim they have others running the program on WIN 2000 PRO and they have never had any problems or seen or heard of that error message.
Anyone have any ideas??
(2) I am going to have to connect the unit at home to the unit in the office and am going to switch to broadband. I can get ATT cable or Mindspring DSL at home and Mindspring DSL in the office (no cable availability there). If I want to communicate between the 2 computers so they can talk to each other using something like PCAnywhere, do they both have to be running, for example, DSL... or can I use cable at home and DSL in the office?
Sorry for the long post, but I hope some of you experts can help this novice. BTW, the reason for all the power is to enable viewing x-rays and also for voice recognition... both which require a lot of power.
