Da bull:I'm sorry I wasn't clear about the receptor discription.Enzymes have very specific stereochemical locations which when occupied by a chemical change conformation and chemical properties allowing them to knock a methyl group,or other little bonds, off of other chemicals facilitating further chemical reactions in the cell.Viagra is said to occupy this location, receptor site, inhibiting the breakdown of a phosphate bond ,so the amount of cyclic GMP is increased in these cells ,vascular smooth muscle, facilitating vasodilation,PHEW.Its been a while since I've thought about this, plus I'm not sure of your point. All I'm saying is that this enzymatic mechanism is wide spread and Viagra will affect other tissues in a similar way since I don't believe it to be specific for inhibiting this enzyme system in the penis only.Incidently this is what causes unwanted side effects since as I said this is a ubiquitous enzyme.
I have the feeling we may be saying the same thing but i'm refering to a very specific site on the enzyme which physically accepts activators and inactivators based on actual phyical conformation of the chemical .These sites are literally able to identify an acceptable interacting agent based on its stereochemical conformation.
I forgot the point of this.
