To All, Robotics Sportster 28.8K Modem Is Crap!!!
Browsing throw the lcoal computer superstore the Robotics Sportster 28.8K modem sells itself on the packaging... "Worlds Number 1 Selling Modem", it looked good... so I bought it. After 10 hours of effort to get it working I gave up, it was performing worse than my old 14.4K, it was slow, it kept dropping the line, it didn't even come with an obvious installation file. I try seaching the web for help and I find that it is littered with stories about poor performance.... very similar to mine.
Dissapointed I take it back to the shop, I buy a Motorola OnlineSURFER 28.8K ($10 cheaper), it comes with an installation disk, within 5 minutes I'm fully installed, it worked beautifully... first time at 28.8k, and has been ever since.
I'm not sure what this means for you investors, this just my personel experiance with this company. To me it stinks of poor quality control in manufacturing... I'm sure their modems do work if built correctly.
