China Jan. industrial ex-factory prices up 5.8% -report By Anne Stanley
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- China's January industrial ex-factory prices rose 5.8 percent from the year-ago period, according to media reports citing the National Bureau of Statistics. AFX-Asia reported early Monday that procurement prices of raw materials, fuel and power rose 10.7 percent year-over-year in January, down slightly from the average growth rate for the full year 2004, and 1.3 percentage points below the December rate. January prices for production materials were up 7.8 percent from the same month a year ago -- 1.6 percentage points lower than in December, the NBS said. Crude oil was up 19.1 percent year-over-year, 16.5 percentage points lower than December.
