Hi all, news on semi stks ! these analysts are such a joke. I can almost predict them.
Salomon Smith Barney added INTC to its recommended list and removed Texas Instruments (TXN 31.91 +0.06)... Separately, Robertson Stephens said that Intel appears unable to quickly resolve production issues for Pentium 4 that could serve to slow the transition from Pentium III and limit improvement in gross margins; Robbie believes stock is fully valued at current levels.
Tech (MU) 26.91 +1.01: Salomon Smith Barney analyst Jon Joseph notes a slight firming in spot DRAM prices; says that while it's too early to know how sustainable the move is, this may be one more missing sign of a cyclical group recovery.
AMAT) 38.40 -0.94: Banc of America Sec thinks semiconductor equipment industry is bottoming, but does not see a recovery until late 2002 at the earliest. More importantly, no signs of a major application driver, which argues that recovery could be modest compared to last 1-2 cycles. Thinks volatile stock will provide additional entry points; firm would be a buyer in the $28-$30 range.

JP Morgan on Semiconductor Equipment : Heard from sources at JP Morgan that the firm is saying to take profits on chip equipment names after their recent run up; specific names mentioned include KLA-Tencor (KLAC -3.5%), Applied Materials (AMAT -2.4%) and Novellus Systems (NVLS -1.8%).

chat w. ya all later.
