Well, the ball is in your court then. Prove the contrary to me. Show me the great plethora of web sites that are making cash selling software.

What I was trying to say was that you can't charge people for a service that is as unpredicable as a web site. If you are going to take someone's credit card number and then ask them to press a button to download your software, you're not going to get a lot of customers if all they get is broken-pipes and server-busies. I'm not saying that sites are being brought down by server busy errors (even the most basic server can serve back an "I'm busy" message rather than crash) I'm just saying that a web site's worldwide customers aren't going to be guaranteed that they will receive what they've requested and until this is remedied software sales using the web (or the information superhighway) as a distribution medium won't happen.
