PG,
I agree that this guy should not be a target, but the truth is, he brought it on himself.
Let me run with a theme. Cops are stupid on the whole. We are not talking about the best and brightest. I've known a bunch and every single one of them had something wrong up there. There was this kid at my first real job who was in training to be a cop. His dad was one of the few classified as a "great white hunter" and he and the son had killed everything that moves on the planet. Short version...it took me more than a year of gaming him, but I got him to admit that being cop gave him a path to kill the ONE beast his father had not yet killed.
And that assclown is now a cop.
This past year an engineer that worked for me had a family member killed by a cop. I've read the facts, and it appears that this was little more than an execution. There may be a history (like high school sweetheart shit or something). The truth will come out, as the public is on this and I guess the family member was a pretty good guy. Witnesses at the scene were SHOCKED to learn the cop killed this guy after they drove away (after offering assistance to the family member with car trouble).
Why do I bother with these stories and what do they have to do with the topic at hand? If I'm a smart guy, a West Point grad, then I know NOT to put my head in the tiger's mouth.
Accidents and guns, and accidents with concealed carry permits DO NOT HAPPEN. That is drilled into your head at that training. And a West Point grad should know better. So, root of this poison tree is the knucklehead that broke the rules and invited the tiger in.
As for the police, well they are as a whole liars. And being a liar is one of the lowest things in my book.
For balance, about three years ago I got a ticket for something I did do (an unfortunate fender bender at 15 MPH due to light rain and a huge patch of clearly visible oil on the road). In this case the cop told me how to get out of the ticket and showed at court and made a statement on my behalf. I was shocked and my faith in the police was somewhat restored. What an example of a man, an officer, and a good person. The City of Berkley Michigan should be proud to have such a man on the force. But really, should this not be the norm? That the people that serve actually serve.
