(Dow Jones)--Sun Microsystems Inc.'s (SUNW) shareholders approved an increase in the company's authorized common shares to 3.6 billion shares from 1.8 billion. In a press release Thursday, Sun Microsystems said it will effect a 2-for-1 stock split in the form of a stock dividend as a result of the shareholder approval.
