Certainly, we have the internet to thank in helping shore up SBC's bottom line in California--PacTel was hit straight between the eyes in 1996 with the insurmountable wave of business and consumer internet access demand. With 40% of the global web traffic originating from California--they couldn't help but capitalize. The mere excess baggage in management is reason enough for SBC to start on the offensive in 98, clearing the decks and streamlining operations. The "SBC style" will rule the cultural day, with a proclaimation to all PacTel mgt nay sayers: "don't let the door hit you on the @$$ on the way out!" Keep an eye on the bottom line!!
