From Japan we have this. Hitachi expected to report a loss in 1999 as recovery to profitability is uncertain in all of its business units EXCEPT for their semiconductor operation. Jeff << Although Hitachi rose Monday for the first time in six trading days, it has dropped 10% since Jan. 29, when the Nikkei index marked a recovery high. "Hitachi may post a group loss for fiscal 1999," an analyst at Morgan Stanley Japan Ltd. said.
