You cannot compare slavery to abortion.

With slavery the Constitution, Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence was undermined because it denied rights to a whole people that they automatically had by nature of their existence. You are correct, however, that the main issues of the Civil War did not include slavery. That was more of a peripheral issue at the time. And also used as an excuse to cover somewhat shoddily the power play by the federalists.

In the case of abortion, the individual woman's rights would be violated if the government told her what she could do with her own body -- her own life. In effect, she would become a slave.
