E3 Trade Show is a Home Run for SC&T International Inc.; Great Industry Response for Air-Racer, Sony License, and ULTIMATE PER4MER Force Feed Back Racing Products Business Wire - June 05, 1998 09:44
E3 Expo SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 1998--SC&T International Inc., (OTC BB:SCTI) Friday announced that last week's E3 show in Atlanta was far beyond company expectations.
"Air-Racer(TM), The UP-300 ULTIMATE PER4MER(R), Force Feed Back (FFB) racing wheel, and the company's new alliance with Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA) greatly enhanced SC&T's growing credibility and industry awareness," stated Jamie Copland, chairman & chief executive officer for SC&T.
"Air-Racer(TM), a universal game controller for PC's, Nintendo and Sony video game consoles, was a hit with attendees, competitors and the media. All our competitors found their way to our booth," commented Copland.
"Unlike any other game controller, Air-Racer(TM) has a second connector that gives users the ability to connect racing or flight pedals to the product. New orders were placed, including nearly 20,000 units from a handful of SC&T's European distributors. No competitors showed a game controller comparable to Air-Racer(TM)," stated Copland.
Microsoft and Thrustmaster chose to debut their own FFB product offerings. "We respect all competitors, however, after seeing their products, I came away from E3 convinced that our UP-300 FFB is the current industry benchmark for FFB racing wheels," commented Copland.
"The heart of any FFB product rests in the size of its motor, on first inspection it appeared that both Microsoft and Thrustmaster had utilized a smaller motor than SC&T's UP-300. If true, this would translate into weaker feed back performance, less power and pull. A smaller motor is prone to greater abuse, less realism and less reliability," stated Copland.
"Consumers wanting true realism, ultimate playability and durability, can only get it from a wheel offering more horsepower, stronger belts and bearings coupled with a solid drive shaft. Simply put, our ULTIMATE Per4mer(R) uses Immersion's I-Force(R) technology and has a V-8 under the hood, the competitors do not."
"SC&T is ahead of the pack in another area. SC&T has been shipping its UP-300 with great reviews, for three months, and it can be found in Best Buy, Babbage's, Computer City and other national retailers. At the show, Microsoft and Thrustmaster were quoting deliveries starting in October and November. That is still 5 - 6 months away."
Copland closed by saying, "SC&T has gone through a tough few years. We have had our setbacks, but we have never stopped our product development. I am very proud and excited about the companies impressive fall line up of Per4mer(R) Air-Racer(TM) and Platinum Sound(TM) products."
SC&T is currently attending Asia's huge Computex computer show in Taipei, that runs June 2 - 5. SC&T is using this venue to kick off its Asian marketing efforts. In September, SC&T will once again attend the ECTS show in London, which is their E3 equivalent.
At that time the European market will have full public exposure before the Christmas selling season to all of our new products. "I am confident that SC&T will have its best year ever, and thank our customers and shareholders for their continued confidence," said Copland.
