CBST seems to be making a fuss in their presentations about dapto being bacteriocidal rather than bacteriostatic. I suppose this might offer the possibility of a quicker response, which could be significant in a life-threatening infection. I don't know enough to judge this issue, however.

It's always a bonus to be -cidal v. -static as immunocompromised or severely debilitated patients may not have the white cell "power" to clean up the mess left by the bacteriostatic drugs. Those bugs are down, but not out, while the -static affected bugs are dead. Much less help is needed from one's own immune system. When I had a choice, I always went with bacteriocidal drugs, especially in the young.
