Is Quantegy the people Ampex sold their tape division to? If so, the 3M deal would give them a domestic tape lock, though that isn't saying much with Sony, etc. out there too. If I'm reading the tone of the last half dozen posts correctly, then we agree we don't at the moment know what's caused the jump...it may be future (digital TV) related...and it bears out my feelings on this thread a month ago that Ampex' biggest problem over the last several years is that it got too far out in front of the market. TV will cling to analogue until it becomes suicide to cling further. THEN digital will happen. And so will we!
