Ben Shapiro made a a few interesting observations on his afternoon show today.

Did we elect the people at the BLM? Who are they, and do they have the consent of the people to do business the way they've been doing it? On who's authority is the United States Government confiscating..........yes the word is confiscating.........private property out west?

(He also observed that congress isn't interested in getting involved in this problem, so they remain silent.)

All good questions, some of which are being addressed because of what happened in Clark NV county over the last few weeks.

From mirage's earlier post:

1st, get all the ranchers, farmers, Native Americans, and foresters that use the land for positive, sustainable production off of the land; 2nd, grab up all the resources; grab up all the resources; 3rd, close off the lands to public access including camping, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, boating, shooting, etc; 4th, sell off the resources to the highest bidder regardless of what that will do to the land, the local environment, or the economy; 5th, collect royalties on the resources in perpetuity; 6th, reduce and eliminate all SLS and PILT payments to the states, impoverishing them beyond belief.)

I'm not sure about the "impoverishing them beyond belief" part, but a lot of what this young man wrote is what is in fact happening. The Federal government IS grabbing up our natural resources, they ARE closing more and more public lands, they ARE selling that land to the highest bidder, and they ARE collecting royalties into perpetuity. Again...........from whom, or where do they get this kind of authority?

Mr. Bundy says the BLM isn't living up to their end of the contract he signed and he stopped paying fees because they changed the rules along the way. And they did so without citizen input, but rather by edict from unelected bureaucrats.

It would be interesting to know just exactly why the government is doing this and who it is that advises them. Are these advisers affiliated with any "environmental movement?" Are International organizations that damn the U.S. Constitution and the rights it conveys to the individual involved? Is it the courts or congress that convey such power?

Nonetheless................rightly or wrongly.......Mr. Bundy evidently believes these new rules nullify the contract he signed with the BLM, and I have no doubt he will be dealt with to their satisfaction.

We have all witnessed the confiscatory land grab the U.S. govt has been undertaking over the last several years, and no one knows where their greed ends. And we must admit we share part of the blame.........we've stood by and allowed this to happen.

I am traditionally in favor of obeying the law, but regarding the land grab the U.S. govt and it's various branches are involved in, it appears they are overstepping their bounds. For years the American people have understood that their rights are (slowly) being eroded, and some of them are extremely upset by the fact that the very people who pledged an oath to protect them are in fact the abusers.

Imo if states don't put a stop to this confiscation, and take back the land that rightfully belongs to them, we'll all be relegated to urban zones. In the far off distant future, and if this confiscation and regulation doesn't stop, we could be denied entry into government designated "protected or 'wilderness' areas." (Of course certain connected individuals will be allowed unfettered access.) We will be required to obtain "why do you want to visit" permits for camping, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, shooting and just generally enjoying the bounty of our glorious lands, and access will be limited and highly regulated so that the "human footprint" isn't detrimental to the "ecology." These will be known as government operated "human occupancy zones."

Since the election of BO and his law breaking administration, I think people have gotten to the point where they are demanding their rights. I also believe that in the future more and more of them will refuse to acquiesce simply because some flunky bureaucrat in WDC says "you must obey", it is the "law."
