All,

I had an interesting discussion the other day with an RBOC engineer, an acquaintance of mine who I met on the 'Net.

Rumblings are, he suggested, that we may soon see one or more or the RBOCs attempt to penetrate the Long Distance market place in such a way that would allow them to circumvent existing regulatory barriers, legally, today, by using VoIP technologies! A very compelling idea!

Remember, folks, the FCC has agreed to keep its mitts off of VoIP and other Internet matters, at least for the time being. It appears, then, as ironic as it may seem, it would be possible for an RBOC to begin delivering long distance today without having to meet the terms and conditions of a 14-point local-competition compliance checklist. Hmmmm....

Any comments?

Frank
