I absolutely agree! Great reply, BTW, as usual.

In my opinion, and despite the presence of equalizers and FEC provisions, implementation of xDSL services without making provisions for sealing current, and a rule regarding the maximum permissible number of discontinuities (cross-connects and splices), will result in poor and unsatisfactory performance and finger pointing.

Are my points on this actually rendered academic and moot, since the ADSL line, at least, will have the ability to support life line POTS services, hence, they will be wet to begin with? Or are life line attributes optional and possibly devoid of battery in the normal data operating mode?
