if you have to retire and do not have enough money you got to find a way to survive. not being in the market can help you crash much quicker as there is no way to replace your withdrawal of retirement money.

i went through this and sunk ever penny in the market. it is a roller coaster but its now going on 14 years, and 11 of those were without any income or soc sec other than maket moves... Of course you need a strong stomach. I had to quit at age 51 and had maybe at most three years of expenses to my name.

Working was not an alternative.
