Hi Dave,
A lot of people seem to be "out of work" here, indulging themselves in the kind of thinking and endless talk that leads to nothing except a disorientation of the soul and the kind of dispersal of energy that is ultimately dispiriting. It does not lead to personal development and success, which is really the great potential of forums such as are available on SI.
In his book "Trading For A Living," Dr. Alexander Elder, a psychiatrist who turned to trading, succinctly wrote this about the role of intellect over emotion: " For most people, to approach the market in the way they live their everyday lives is to experience financial loss."
Smart trading and wise investing require study, discipline, and focus. They have nothing to do with oneupmanship and the ability to quarrel and argue on a thread.
Whether ones goal lies in effective long term investing, or in successful short term trading, SI offers wonderful potential for learning. Compare, for instance, the kind of focus and discipline that is exemplified in this link with what is generally the lack of substance here on this thread.
