Securities & Exchange Commission Selects Micromuse's Netcool ApplicationsThe Netcool(R)/Precision(TM) Application and Netcool(R)/ISMs(TM) Suite Are Helping Maintain Uptime of Public Information Services
SAN FRANCISCO, Jun 25, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Micromuse Inc. (Nasdaq: MUSE chart, msgs), the leading provider of realtime fault management and service assurance software, today announced that the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is deploying the Netcool(R) suite as the principal management solution for its network systems platform. In addition, Netcool applications will monitor the uptime, status and performance of the SEC's Internet services and Web sites.

After an analysis of available technologies, the SEC selected Micromuse's Netcool/Precision(TM) application, the Netcool/Internet Service Monitors(TM) (Netcool/ISMs(TM)) suite, and the Netcool/Reporter(TM) application. Among other things, the SEC network systems platform and Web sites facilitate the public disclosure of important financial and investment information. They are also designed to help protect investors by providing a resource for laws and regulations that govern the securities industry in the U.S.

"The Netcool suite will help the SEC focus on maintaining the performance, reliability and stability of its network," said Lou Steinberg, Micromuse's Senior Vice President, Marketing & Market Development. "The Netcool/Precision application reduces the time to troubleshoot and resolve problems, accommodating for misconfigured or unmanaged devices, and devices that have been moved, added or changed. While next-generation networks seldom abide by predictable behavior patterns, Netcool/Precision software will help reduce the SEC's time to troubleshoot and resolve problems."

About the Netcool(R) Suite

Micromuse's Netcool(R) software suite collects management data from more than 300 management environments and network devices, including voice, data and Internet. Fault data is rapidly processed and filtered by the Netcool ObjectServer(TM), an in-memory database. The Netcool suite helps operators to build views of service availability in realtime, helping them manage networks more efficiently. Because it is scalable and deploys rapidly, the Netcool suite helps service providers expand their networks as their markets grow.
