To add to M.Brian's excellent post: you can go to town.hall.org and search for AMPEX to generate a list of 550 patents, among which are the patents related to keepered media. Don't get too excited, though. I suggest that you go and check out the IBM Storage Web Site to get a handle on the Magneto-resistive recording technology that IBM intends to push as the next standard in the disk drive industry. AXC has stated in their 10Qs that it was far from certain that Keepered media would be compatible with MR. If IBM succeeds in establishing MR as the industry standard, then Keepered media may well be relegated to the status of a niche product. Also, RED CHIP REVIEW is supposed to be the newsletter that is coming out with the report that one keepered media contract will be announced in 1 to 1.5 months. I am skeptical that RED CHIP will allow that kind of information to leak, but, we shall know soon enough. BTW, the Motley Fool AXC board is reasonably substantive, but, the lesser-known INVESTORS NETWORK AXC board is I think better. Both are on AOL.
