It's hard to understand your point. First, you say I'm wrong Lots of people like to make stmts like that; and, like to dismiss the analyst role for various reasons. It's very superficial. Anyone who has consistently used research from reputable sources knows better. The work goes much deeper. then you immediately admit that I'm right The commonality in most is that they generally conform to the limited guidance they get from companies which is generally updated guidance on the next qtr and full current year.

I agree analysts do lots of research that goes in depth on various aspects of the business, but as far as their models and company guidance (the topic we were discussing), my comments are spot on. You will seldom find any analyst that deviates significantly from a company's guidance. The analysts don't generally forecast blow out beat and raise quarters, and they don't forecast major downturns. They take the company guidance, and pip it up or down a percent (or perhaps 2 percent if they wanna be super aggressive).
