Mr Craig Steinke reports
Range Petroleum and its partners anticipate spudding the well Range et al Sturls 5-35-70-24 W5M on November 3 1997.
Range had contracted Nabors Drilling, Rig #16, which is now on location.
The company experienced approximately a one month delay due to rig and casing availability - news release in Stockwatch dated August 26, 1997.
The primary target is a high potential seismically controlled Leduc (D-3) anomaly, which management believes may contain 10 to 30 million barrels of recoverable oil. Range holds 52.5% working interest in this project and will serve as operator of the well. The well will take 45 to 50 days to reach total depth.
The Sturgeon Lake play is consistent with the company's overall exploration focus on developing high impact opportunities in the deeper part (Devonian formations) of the Western Canadian Sedimentary basin.
