Interesting article. Not quite the fulsome praise that Borland seems to have expected - witness the massive "watch-this-space" lead-up to the announcement. The quote that caught my eye:

"They have a hell of a job ahead of them," Rymer said. "They are launching into a very busy space ....."

This is their major misjudgement, I think. They seem to think they have created something new - another tool, if you will - that can be marketed in the same way, and with the same people, as C++. If they want to be taken seriously in their new incarnation, they need to understand they cannot do this.

So far, so little different from Iona, BEA and the rest of the pack (IBM, Sybase, Oracle). Where is the new "sustaining value proposition" to go with the name? If there is one, it is probably equally limp.
