Richard: I am not a geologist, I am however a Physicist, and in order to concentrate the ores that are dispersed in a mother lodes' quartz veins, nature has to work hard through erosion and gravitational concentration. This implies the in situ erosion of the mother lode's rock and the subsequent transportation by torrents of water and deposition as placers. I am sure that there are geologists on this thread that can better explain this process, but in essence, placers are formed at specific locations along primordial (and even current ) rivers, where the momentum of the flowing water is changed suddenly allowing settling of the heavier precious metals. Typical location would be river banks and fast turns in rivers. It is unlikely that this would be within the area of the motherlode itself since the water would not have a chance to pick up momentum to even bring the heavy metals particles into suspension. Yes it could be the mother lode, but of a further down stream deposit not the one they found there. Just having a hard rock and without any analysis calling it the mother lode is still hype in my book. I may as well take a hike into the mountains of Vermont, find myself a hard rock and annouce that I have found the mother lode that peppers small particles of gold into a number of Vermont rivers (and start a new gold rush) and float some stock and then few months later say, I am sorry analysis incidates this not to be "the" or any mother lode. The funny thing is that people are such suckers that they ar willing to believe any piece of "news" even when framed in the most guarded wording (which they dutifully did to protect their legal butts). This behavior, however, just like the promise of the dore bar and the mishandling of the effort to extract precious metals indicates to me that the management is more interested in lining their pockets than ours.
