I think one of Carter's great achievements was getting rid of the Panama Canal. It had become more of a sore point with South America than an asset. If only he had moved Israel to Utah.

Actually, it was Truman who screwed up that one......had he put Israel in Utah back in 1949 there would have been so much less opposition in the country and so many fewer people in Utah with which to deal. A golden opportunity was lost.
