Hi Mark: RE>How many people will leave AOL because they
will create their own home page w/ a different web address? I certainly wouldn't house my home page on AOL's slow servers and would want my email tied to my home page location. Wouldn't you?<<
you mean like republic.net

I enjoy and agree with a lot of what you say..but I do not see any
one who would buy AOL out, msn could grap the subcribers if they
really wanted them..AOl is being giving some room to run just so
the other can see if there is any profit in what she is doing..
and there isn't..
MSFT is subject to have a few problems of its' own if they don't
put more focas on their main operating system and keep trying to
be all things to all people..that has killed a lot of software
companies..she had a thing going with dos and then windows with
regular upgrades..she is begining to lose that upgrade momentum,
and some garage shop is going to come out with a fast GUI that runs
on an intel..and MSFT could find herself in deep poop..
already one you can get for free..but it's too unix like to
be a big hit with the average person..
There is an exception, "GTE" they took over BBN..they just may be
dumb enough to think AOL is worth something. IN that case I'l lose
all my long term puts..hmmmm
